First of all, my sincere apologies for forsaking the work of this blog. But it was a crazy last few weeks since I posted. Not only did we have the holidays, but I also got engaged to my amazing girlfriend. Yes! That’s right, ol’ Chipappa has been snatched right off the most eligible bachelor list. And glad to be taken. Well, for all of you faithful readers out there, it’s officially time for me to send my mass holiday wishes. I hope that each of you are able to spend time with family and friends. Hopefully you will cherish each moment with them because we do not know how much longer we will all have each other. Also make sure to save room for some good food. The holiday season offers many seasonal choices for food and drink. So get with some of the aforementioned friends and family and go enjoy some of that great food and drink that you have been waiting for all year (mmmm…eggnog).

Most importantly take time to seriously reflect on Jesus Christ and what He has accomplished for you. This is the time of the year when the whole world is made aware of Jesus’ birth. For the Christian, this birth is the initiation of the human side of the gospel. Jesus had to be born before he could die. What sovereign wisdom brought all this together! At a time that the Bible declares as “the fulness of time” Jesus came into this world to begin His perfect life in preparation for a perfect, substitutionary death. We would be wrong to let this time of the year slip by and be satisfied in anything else (gifts and family included) other than the initiation of the gospel. How great is our God!

Simply, this is straight from Colossians 1:9-14, which is a passage that I have spent a little bit of time with recently.

Col. 1:9-14:    And so, from the day we heard, we have not ceased to pray for you, asking that you may be filled with the knowledge of his will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, so as to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God. May you be strengthened with all power, according to his glorious might, for all endurance and patience with joy, giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in light. He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.

THEY DID IT! THE ST. LOUIS CARDINALS WON THE WORLD SERIES!

WOW! Deep breath. Wfew! I really don’t know what to say. I am ecstatic! I finally got to see my team win the World Series. Great day in my life. Now I don’t feel so much anger towards Red Sox fans for thwarting us in 2004.

Anyway, now life begins all over. My week nights are free. I don’t know what to do with myself. Guess I’ll blog and facebook more. Later.

Now, I know that some of you are thinking, “That’s nothing new!” Well, you’re probably right. Anyway, I am just informing all of the reading world that I will be unconcious to you and everyone else (except you, Melissa) during this next week. You see, for the second time in my cognizant years my beloved and adored St. Louis Cardinals are in the World Series.

Oh how I long for them to win it all! I have been dreaming of that moment for as long as I have lived. You see, the Cards last won the Series in 1982. A quick check at my birthdate will let you know that I was about 6 months late for the celebration. This is so unfair. Red Sox fans have seen their team win one before I have. And yes, I know that the Cardinals helped the Red Sox by dropping four straight in 2004.

This time I hope that we show no mercy to the Detroit Tigers. I really do want to win this thing. So if you cannot reach me this week between the hours of 8pm - 12am (est) you will at least know what is going on.

LET’S GO CARDINALS!

I appologize for not giving that update. You see, I have no internet connection at my house. I completely bum off of the free wireless internet in my hood and the signal has been weak at best. Anyway, who needs internet when the gun shots outside my door are entertaining me. I am not kidding about those shots either. But all is well and I am now able to let you know that I am still alive.

One other quick update. My facebook account is now under Woody Chipman.

This is a classic post from my old blog at blogger. I thought it would be good to post a little bit of my creative juices for all of you my faithful readers (which is probably 2 people) to see. Without further ado, I proudly present to you a Woodstock Masterpiece, “The Night of the Living Cockroach.”

Well, I thought that over the Thanksgiving holiday I would spend some time with my younger siblings and cousin in the time honored tradition known as “movie watching.” Now, you know that no one really ever “watches” a movie when there is a group. Inevitably, something comes up that winds up making you forget all about the movie being “watched” and forces you to place all of your attention on that object. The title has already given you a little insight as to who this intruder was on our night of fun. Read the rest of this entry »

Recently at my church we have been working our way through Romans 8 on Sunday mornings. As I was sitting in the service a thought came to me – if the Spirit brings a thought to our attention after we have been under the ministry of the Word, then we need to act on that Spirit lead thought. So, naturally, I wanted to say something to someone about what I was thinking. Yet, my own pride got in the way because I feared what others might say. Read the rest of this entry »

Well, it’s been a while since I’ve updated the ol’ blog. You can probably guess that I have an excuse. Yep! Pretty sure I just moved up to wonderful Philadelphia, PA. I’m actually in the second week of this move.

Last week, once camp let out I headed to Greenville, SC, with my girlfriend (that’s right! i finally found her). We spent Sunday worshipping our Lord with a local community of believers. After the evening service we left for Atlanta, GA. We stayed in Atlanta with my aunt and uncle. Mom and Dad flew in to join us on Tuesday. Just before dawn on Wednesday we took off for Washington D.C. After spending the night in a $1.65 million dollar home of a family friend, we took off for Philly on Thursday.

I barely had time to unpack before I took Mom and Dad to the airport on Sunday. Then, I took Melissa, my girlfriend, to her sister’s house in Lancaster, PA. What a change!!! On Monday of this week I began classes at Calvary Baptist Theological Seminary in Lansdale, PA.

And so you see how everything has been so busy. Well, as soon as something exciting happens, I’ll let you know.
